EQRNet: Changing the way we estimate urban earthquake effects
Abstract
Canterbury Seismic has installed a private seismograph network of 200 sensors in Christchurch. This network, called EQRNet, generates ground shaking information in unprecedented detail and is designed to help businesses and local government better respond to, and recover from, damaging earthquakes. This presentation will outline the why, where and how of EQRNet, show some preliminary (and interesting!) results and will conclude with an open session seeking your input into how a pathway might be opened to the research community.
