Abstract
A resilient transport system is vital to the ongoing and future prosperity of businesses
and communities. Recent natural hazard events worldwide, including the 2016 Kaikōura
earthquake NZ, have highlighted the wider economic and social impacts that can result from system
disruption. These observational datasets and consequent QuakeCoRE research have however
provided a unique position – access to granular asset information, disruption data
sets, and strong end-user partnerships – to drive internationally-impactful research that informs future
integrated transport system design for enhanced resilience, and indirectly improving performance
under business-as-usual conditions.
