September 25, 2018Congratulations to Harmony Repia (Massey University) on receiving the Ngā Aho Award, Best Design Award 2018, Designers Institute of New Zealand. Harmony’s project was entitled “Niho Taniwha: Communicating Tsunami risk – A site-specific case study for Tūranganui-a-Kiwa”
The Judges commented “Ka u tenei kaupapa ki te manaaki tangata kia kore e riro i te ringa kaha o aitua. This project, to alert and educate people of tsunami risk in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa, the Poverty Bay area, demonstrates an amazing level of engagement for a student project and a very well considered design that draws on a uniquely Māori understanding of earths forces.”
